White Sox’s Braden Montgomery ends MLB debut with walk-off homer...
The Chicago White Sox continued their youth movement when they called up one of their top prospects in Braden Montgomery. He made sure to end his MLB debut in style. Montgomery stepped up to the plate trailing 5-4 to the Atlanta Braves with a man on third and two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning. With a deep drive to left field, the right fielder sent the fans home happy and delivered the White Sox a 6-5 victory. While he struck out twice, the rookie made up for it with an RBI single before his walk-off home run. The White Sox remain hopeful it’s the start of an unforgettable career. With the win, Chicago has moved to 35-31 on the season. They’ve been led by young players such as Colston Montgomery, Chase Meidroth and Sam Antonacci. Now, Montgomery – Braden that is – is here to help the White Sox’s charge. He still currently ranks as the second-best prospect in the organization and No. 21 in all of baseball. Before his call up, Montgomery hit .315 with four home runs, 19 RBIs and three stolen bases. His 177 games total at the minor league level has resulted in a .284 batting average, 22 home runs, 109 RBIs and 19 stolen bases. Montgomery will still need to prove himself at the major league level. However, with games like his MLB debut, the White Sox won’t be able to take him out of the lineup. All eyes will now be on the outfielder whenever he steps up to bat.
