Watch Pistons fans troll Wendell Carter Jr. with ‘Angel Reese’...
Angel Reese must have been minding her own business on Sunday when she caught a few strays from the Detroit Pistons fanbase. As one would know, Reese’s significant other, Wendell Carter Jr., plays for the Orlando Magic — the team that just blew a 3-1 series lead in the most deflating way possible in a 116-94 loss in Game 7. With the Little Caesars Arena crowd feeling itself, they trolled Carter when he went to the foul line by chanting his girlfriend’s name. Reese has been mocked countless times in basketball circles (mostly among men), however, so it’s not a surprise to hear her name be used in this context. But apparently, the trolling goes deeper. Reese, according to the rumor mill, used to date Pistons center Jalen Duren before she and Carter became an item. And earlier in the series, Reese reposted a reel on her Instagram story showing Carter catching a lob right in Duren’s face. With all that said, one could argue that Pistons fans chanting Reese’s name must have been the most cathartic for Duren. It’s not quite clear what happened between Reese and Duren, but it has to feel good for the Pistons big man to not lose to Carter on the basketball side of things after losing, so to speak, in the romantic arena. On the plus side for Carter, he’ll now have plenty of time to spend with Reese now that the WNBA season is about to tip off. The Atlanta Dream, the team that acquired Reese this offseason in a blockbuster trade, will begin their season on Saturday, May 9 against the Minnesota Lynx. And now that the Magic are out of the playoffs courtesy of an enormous Pistons comeback, Carter can be present for Reese’s every game. Isn’t this such a win for everybody involved?
