The 28-year-old would initially refuse to yield his position. However, he would later take up the DH role. The team would then urge him to take the 1st base position. Once again, Devers would decline that offer. In June, after the Red Sox swept the Yankees, Devers was traded to the Giants. The 2-time Silver Slugger would express that he was ready to play any position his new team wants. On Tuesday, he finally got the chance to play as the 3rd baseman again.
