Victor Wembanyama ejected from Game 4 after vicious elbow to...
The San Antonio Spurs had a tough challenge ahead of them with the Minnesota Timberwolves trying to protect home-court in Game 4 of their second round playoff series. Thanks to Victor Wembanyama, that task just got even harder. With 8:39 remaining in the second quarter of Game 4, Victor Wembanyama came down with a defensive rebound but was fighting both Naz Reid and Jaden McDaniels for the rebound. An apparently annoyed Wembanyama then swung his elbow to create some separation from Reid, who was clawing at the basketball. Reid went down, the officials blew the whistle dead, and Jaden McDaniels continued fighting with Victor Wembanyama for the basketball. The officials announced a replay review after both teams went back to their respective benches as Timberwolves fans could be heard yelling, “kick him out!” The replay review showed very clear evidence that Wembanyama’s foul had wind-up, follow-through, unnecessary and excessive contact. The Spurs star was assessed a flagrant foul penalty two and ejected from Game 4 against the Timberwolves.
