President Trump announced in a social media post on Friday that he was withdrawing his support from Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, the Georgia Republican who was once known as one of his most vocal loyalists, accusing her of turning on him and fixating on criticism. In a lengthy post on Truth Social, Mr. Trump wrote, “I am withdrawing my support and Endorsement of ‘Congresswoman’ Marjorie Taylor Greene,” adding insults such as calling her “wacky.” The break comes after months in which Ms. Greene has increasingly expressed skepticism about the president’s growing attention to foreign conflicts and warning that domestic issues such as the cost of living, rising health care costs and economic opportunities for the next generation are being sidelined. Ms. Greene responded to Mr. Trump’s attacks, saying in a social media post that she does not “worship or serve Donald Trump,” and suggesting that she would continue to push for the release of the Epstein files. She also shared a text message that she said she sent to the president earlier today, asking that Trump “lean into” the inquiry of Epstein as a way to attack Democrats who had associated with him.
