Trump Administration Suffers Legal Blow Over Haitian TPS Protections...
A federal judge on Monday blocked the Trump administration from ending temporary protections that allow roughly 350,000 Haitians to live and work in the United States. U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes in Washington paused the termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) while a lawsuit challenging the move proceeds, days before the designation was set to expire. In an 83-page opinion, Reyes, appointed to her post in 2023 by former Democratic President Joe Biden. said the plaintiffs were likely to succeed and found it “substantially likely” the decision was driven by hostility toward nonwhite immigrants. She ordered that the termination be treated as null and void for now, leaving work authorization and deportation protections in place.
