Tate was selected with the fourth overall pick. Tate (6-2, 192) caught 121 passes for 1,872 yards with 14 touchdowns in three seasons at Ohio State. He caught 51 passes for 875 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025. Tate made a visit to Nashville to meet with the Titans during the pre-draft process. "I talked to Cam (Ward), a great conversation with G-Lew (receivers coach Greg Lewis), (OC) Brian Daboll, Coach (Robert) Saleh," Tate said. "It was great." Tate was a second-team Associated Press All-American in 2025, and a first-team All-Big Ten Conference performer. According to Pro Football Focus, Tate led the country with five receiving TD with a throw depth of 40+ yards (7 receptions on such throws were T-most in the country on only eight such targets).
