COLUMBUS, Ohio — Police have released surveillance video of a person walking near the home of a Columbus couple near the time of their murder in their home last week. According to a news release from the Columbus Division of Police, the video shows a “person of interest” walking in an alley near the home of Spencer and Monique Tepe during the early morning hours of Dec. 30. Detectives believe the couple were murdered between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. “We have received and are continuing to receive numerous tips from the community, which our detectives are following up on,” the news release says. “We want to thank the community for the tips we have received. We know there are questions and concerns surrounding this tragic incident. Detectives are working diligently to solve this case.” The bodies of 37-year-old Spencer Tepe and his 39-year-old wife, Monique, were found in the upstairs of their home after concerned friends and colleagues requested a welfare check. The couple’s two children, a 1-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl, were in the home but were not harmed. Columbus police responded to the Weinland Park neighborhood home after the couple’s co-workers reported that Spencer Tepe, a dentist, had failed to show up for work at a dental clinic in Athens and could not be reached by phone. The couple died of gunshot wounds, the Franklin County Coroner’s Office tells NBC News. Three 9mm shell casings were found inside the home by investigators, NBC News reports. No gun has been found and police do not believe it was a murder-suicide, the Columbus Dispatch reports. No information has been released on a possible motive.
