Members of Congress share what they expect from Trump’s State...
“President Trump is really going to focus on wins from his first year in office,” Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI) said. Alongside McClain, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) shared she hoped the success of Trump’s first year with a Republican Congress is on his speaking agenda tonight. While many expect the president to talk about the successes he has made in this administration so far, other Congress members shared different answers. “I think he is going to talk about how crazy the Left is,” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) said. Rep. Tory Nehls (R-TX) said: “I think he’s going to spend a little bit of time talking about just how important these midterm elections are.” “Rep. Michael Cloud (R-TX) said: “The president has an awful lot to talk about. He mentioned, it might be a long speech.” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton shares his hopes that Trump includes his future plans in his remarks. “I want him to celebrate America,” Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-WI) said. “It’s the 250th anniversary of the greatest country on the planet.” The Washington Examiner will have the full State of the Union live and updates in our live blog.
