Lin’s feature version is still moving forward at Sony Pictures, with Gary Dauberman (It, Until Dawn) having penned the script. Helldivers is set for theatrical release on Nov. 10, 2027. Hailing from PlayStation Productions, the Helldivers movie adapts the 2015 game and its sequel that have collectively sold more than 12 million units. The gaming property centers on Helldivers, a squad of elite soldiers who must protect Super Earth from an alien attack. Arrowhead Game Studios is behind the shooting game that was first released in March 2015. THR reported in February that Momoa was set to star in the film. Lin, Hutch Parker and Asad Qizilbash serve as producers on the movie. Momoa has a number of features set to hit the big screen this year, including his turn as DC Comics mainstay Lobo opposite Milly Alcock in Warner Bros.’ Supergirl, set for theatrical release June 26. The actor, who recently led this year’s action-comedy film The Wrecking Crew, can be seen later this year in Street Fighter and Dune: Part Three. His features scheduled for release in 2027 include A Minecraft Movie Squared and Animal Friends alongside Ryan Reynolds. Known for helming multiple titles in the Fast & Furious franchise, Lin most recently directed 2025’s Last Days. Deadline was first to report on Momoa’s departure.
