Ayatollah Khamenei's (#2 and #3) family name derives from the city of Khamaneh. Those two towns in Iran are about 400 miles apart. The two names are distinct in Farsi. It is a coincidence that the names seem so similar to us westerners, and our pronunciation of each is probably butchered.
