Former Olympic snowboarder turned FBI fugitive arrested in Mexico...
Ryan Wedding, a former Olympic snowboarder for Canada who was among the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, has been arrested, according to the Associated Press. Wedding, 44, is accused of running a transnational drug trafficking network that shipped hundreds of kilograms of cocaine from Colombia through Mexico, the U.S. and Canada, according to an FBI news release. He is also accused of orchestrating numerous murders and an attempted murder to further these drug crimes, according to the FBI. Wedding was arrested in Mexico, one official told AP. His arrest is expected to be announced Friday at a news conference with FBI Director Kash Patel in California. The U.S. Department of State’s Narcotics Program was offering up to $15 million in reward for information leading to Wedding’s arrest, according to the FBI. Wedding, a 6-foot-3, 240-pound white male, is also known by aliases including “El Jefe,” “Giant,” “Public Enemy,” “James Conrad King,” and “Jesse King,” according to the FBI. In November, the Department of Justice announced 10 people had been arrested across several countries in connection to Wedding. Wedding, born in Thunder Bay, Canada, competed for his native country in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he finished 24th in the parallel giant slalom.
