COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Ohio State linebacker Darron Lee was arrested and charged in connection to his girlfriend’s murder, according to a report from ABC9 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (Tennessee) deputies were dispatched to a local residence Thursday where life-saving measures were being attempted on a female victim. She died of her injuries, per the report, and it’s believed her death was the result of a homicide. Lee was arrested at the scene. The HCSO lists Lee in its inmate search with a court date set for Feb. 11. Lee, who was born in Chattanooga, signed with Ohio State in 2013 as a product of New Albany High School in New Albany, Ohio. He was a three-star player, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, who played for the Buckeyes from 2013-15. After an injury-shortened freshman season, Lee helped lead Ohio State to a national title in 2014 under coach Urban Meyer. He was named the Sugar Bowl Defensive MVP for his performance against Alabama in the College Football Playoff semifinals. Lee was selected by the Jets in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He was also with the Chiefs, Bills and Raiders before his professional career ended in 2021. Lee has faced legal issues before, including charges of domestic violence, assault and felony drug possession in Dublin, Ohio, three years ago.
