FDA continues Cyclospora investigation despite Taylor Farms false positive...

The Food and Drug Administration’s ongoing investigation into a Cyclospora outbreak and Taylor Farms’ voluntary recall remain unchanged, despite a recent false-positive lab sample. A sample of shredded lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico, collected during an import examination at the Southern Border, initially tested positive for Cyclospora but was later determined to be negative. The Food and Drug Administration is conducting an ongoing outbreak investigation into Cyclospora, a parasitic illness. The initial positive test for shredded lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico was retracted following corrective testing. Taylor Farms was alerted to the corrective test result this past Sunday. The FDA’s traceback investigation and outbreak data continue to converge on shredded iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms locations in central Mexico. The agency will continue to work with federal and state partners to investigate this multistate outbreak and ensure products implicated in this outbreak have been removed from the market. Protecting the American public remains the FDA’s highest priority. The FDA encourages the public to continue to avoid all products listed in Taylor Farms’ voluntary recall.
