Tank Bigsby elevates Philadelphia Eagles' backfield depth Last season, Bigsby, a 2023 third-rounder, had 168 carries, 766 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns for Jacksonville. He only had five carries in the Jaguars' 26-10 Week 1 over the Carolina Panthers while playing 21 percent of the team's offensive snaps. Travis Etienne Jr. received the bulk of the team's carries, and after gaining 143 yards, Bigsby's spot became expendable. While Philadelphia doesn't need a lead back either, Bigsby might be a more reliable second-string option than the others on the team's roster. Will Shipley and AJ Dillon combined for six carries and 36 yards against the Cowboys. For his career, Shipley, a 2024 fourth-rounder, has 33 carries for 108 yards, while Dillon, 27, missed all of last season with a neck injury. Last season, Barkley was named Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league with 2,005 rushing yards. He also had a career-high 345 carries, and that type of volume could be hard to replicate for another season. Adding a quality back to the rotation should keep Barkley fresh, which is paramount to Philadelphia's chances of repeating as Super Bowl champions. By only giving up two Day 3 picks, the Eagles also got good value for a player on a rookie contract through 2026. Adding Bigby is another shrewd move in a long line of smart ones by general manager Howie Roseman. The Eagles got a little bit better because of the trade. For a team that was already great, that's bad news for the rest of the league.
