Christian Menefee beats longtime Democrat Al Green in runoff...

Rep. Christian Menefee (D-TX) beat longtime Rep. Al Green (D-TX) in Tuesday’s Democratic primary runoff after the two Texas incumbents were placed in the same seat by mid-decade redistricting. When the Associated Press called the race, Green trailed Menefee 31.1% to 68.9%. Age and generational change were a central theme in the contest. Green, 78, has served in the House since 2005 and has become known for his long floor speeches and attempts to impeach President Donald Trump. Last year, Green was ejected from Trump’s address to Congress after repeatedly interrupting and waving his cane at the president. The antic saw Green get censured by the House of Representatives.
