Chicago White Sox rookie Braden Montgomery makes MLB history in...
Chicago White Sox rookie Braden Montgomery had a Major League debut that he will remember forever. The White Sox’s No.2 prospect (21st-best prospect in Major League Baseball) collected two hits in his five trips to the plate. Montgomery’s first hit came off Atlanta Braves right-hander Grant Holmes. Montgomery also collected his first home run, a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning (6-5). The 23-year-old clobbered a 0-1 changeup (90 miles per hour) that Braves closer Raisel Iglesias left over the middle of the plate, which he deposited into left field. According to Elias Sports and Sarah Langs, Montgomery is the fifth player in Major League Baseball history to hit his first home run as a walk-off home run in his MLB debut. The four others include: Carlos Perez (2015) with the Los Angeles Angels, Miguel Cabrera (2003) with the Florida (Miami) Marlins, Josh Bard (2002) with the Cleveland Indians (Guardians) and Billy Parker (1971) with the California (Los Angeles) Angels.
