In 2023, Biden had a skin cancer lesion removed from his chest. The lesion was determined to be basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, and an estimated 1 in every 5 Americans will develop it at some point in their life. The former president was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer in May. The cancer metastasized to his bones, and many politicians across both parties rallied around the former president. His office said at the time that the cancer appeared “hormone-sensitive” and that he was pursuing several forms of treatment.
