A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck in northwestern Nevada on April 13, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake, originally registered as a magnitude 5.7, struck just before 6:30 p.m. PT near the Lahontan State Recreation Area, about 65 miles southeast of Reno. A string of aftershocks followed, with the latest being a magnitude 3.4 that occurred just after 7 p.m. PT. It's too early to assess whether there are any serious damage or injuries. The USGS's "Did You Feel It" map for the temblor showed that shaking was felt in Reno, Carson City, Lake Tahoe and Truckee, California. The earthquake was classified intensity VII, according to the USGS Shake Map. This is a developing story
