'It's special': Jaylen Waddle discusses reunion with Patrick Surtain II...

"He was one of the first calls I made," Waddle said Wednesday at his introductory news conference. "We talked about this earlier in our careers, we wanted to get together and play with each other. "Just seeing it happen, it's special." Surtain, meanwhile, has told Aric DiLalla of the team website the reunion is "going to be electric." Waddle added Surtain hasn't given him any new information about the Broncos since he joined Denver. But they've stayed in touch throughout their careers, so he knows the organization well. "Not too many details. [But] we kept in contact through the years when [head coach Sean Payton] has been here," the WR said. "He has been keeping me in the loop without even knowing." Payton will appreciate Surtain keeping Waddle plugged in, as it could help immediately bolster a Denver passing attack that finished 13th in the NFL in passing yards last season (220.4 yards per game). (That figure includes the playoffs.) The Broncos are counting on Waddle becoming a WR2 behind two-time Pro Bowler Courtland Sutton. He should do so after ranking 11th in the NFL in receiving yards (5,039) over the past five seasons, per StatMuse. Waddle doesn't just want to improve Denver's football fortunes, either. He also wants to make an impact on the community with Surtain's aid. "I'm definitely getting into the community and doing something," he said. "I know [Surtain] is going to help me find different things to get into. I know he does a lot of good things out here. Rocco is definitely someone that is special. We have a special bond, and I think that's just going to continue (no matter) where I play at. He has family in me on his side." Surtain and Waddle are like brothers who sometimes fight. If they ever threw down, the WR still believes he would win. "I still stand on what I said," Waddle said while laughing. Expect them to bring healthy competition to training camp, which may help them win a championship in Denver, just as they did at Alabama.
